Le match était très intéressant mais pour moi au-delà des coups de pied défensif il y a 2 points qui seront à surveiller et améliorer.

Le fait de se faire prendre dans le dos assez facilement. La consigne étant de présser assez haut on a tendance à se faire aspirer. C'était flagrant durant es 10 premières minutes de la seconde mi-temps. Galatasaray jouait plus vite en 1 touche et juste avec un jeu de remise à 3, ils arrivaient très facilement à créer des espaces dans notre dos pour prendre la profondeur.

Le second point est sur la relance. On a effectivement des joueurs de ballon mais qui mettent parfois trop de temps enclancher la relance ce qui favorise le pressing adverse. Et j'ai vu à 2-3 reprise un thomasson (même s'il fait un bon match) sous pression qui se "débarrassait" de la balle avec une belle passe dans l'axe qui pourrait facilement être interceptée. Avec un pressing mieux coordonné de l'adversaire on se retrouverait facilement à faire des erreurs comme galatasaray.

I'd advise against rue St Michel, it's not what it used to be, just a couple of pretty lame bars fighting it out.
Not far from there, you've got the Fox and Friends pub, which is much better for a pre-match drink.
Otherwise, you'll find plenty of bars along Mail François Mitterrand, and they're on the way to the stadium.
Saturday is market day at Place des Lices. You can grab some sausage galettes there, our local specialty.
If you want any other tips about Rennes, don't hesitate.

Another Brentford supporter looking forward to a few days in Rennes. We're a good crowd, enjoy a drink and having watched some bad football over the years, we are now enjoying life.

When in Barcelos Portugal last year for a friendly against Gil Vicente, one of the locals offered to buy a round of drinks for all the Brentford supporters at his local bar so feel free to do the same ;-)

One thing we do seem to have in common though is that our club isn't very helpful when it comes to selling tickets and your clubs website is about as helpful regarding tickets for the morning game. Hopefully it will get sorted and we'll be able to see 2 games

That's Friday, Saturday will be breakfast at 10am with first pint of day, mooch a few bars and head over to stadium pub about 1/2pm.
Hope to see a few of you all out and about, we are a friendly bunch, like a good banter, best part is, most of us go back to the bad old days when Brentford nearly went bust.

If you are next to place Saint-Anne, I strongly recommend the Westport Inn, it's my favorite pub in town. It's small but great local energy, and only local beers. Nothing fancy, just pure Irish uncommercial-pub vibes.

If I recall correctly, when Villa fans came to Rennes for the friendly back in 2022, they spent a lot of time in bars around the Mail Francois Mitterand. The advantage is that it's a very large walking area about a couple km long, see Google map link. It's the large thing with the trees, so you can attend with a large crew since there is a bar every 100m.

Also, it's 15min away from the roazhon park, and you can get there while walking alongside the river ! ( pros: it's a nice walk and view, especially when sunny, cons: when drunk, try not to fall into it)
A few names: Superkraft, La Cabane, Les grands gamins, La piste (my favorite, as they serve local beers from Smash brewery, brewed 500m from the Roazhon Park)

As others said, Saturday morning is the weekly market (food, flowers etc.) which is happening near "Rue Saint Michel". It will be a nice place to grab some of our Galette Saucisse, but not ideal for a crowd of 400 people, plus families might not be as friendly with such a huge group of english fans

Anyway, back in 2022, some of the bars on the mail provided Galette Saucisse bites so they could taste it !

As for drinking around the stadium after or before the game, it will depend on the police force that is there or not. I don't know how Brentford fans are considered, but I don't a reason why they would force you away.

Edit: By the way, Galette saucisse is either: plain (no sauce), ketchup, mustard or both !

And secondly, before you start enoying the local brews would you mind telling us a few words about your team ? I'd happily translate it into french afterwards for my fellow Rennes fans.

What's the general feel after last season and onto the next one ? How do you fell the summer's going for your team ?
Which players are you real happy about ? Which would you love to see a bit more of ? What style of play would you say is the one your team leans towards the most ? The strengthes, weaknesses etc ?

Our team is getting a lot more balanced now, and the transfer window has been nothing but fantastic for us with all necessary adds covered. Two additions are kinda topping it all, first in defense with the latest hire of Cresswell, we're pretty amazed no premier league team managed to snatch him before our sorry eyes, and at midfield with Thomasson who was fantastic (alongside Sangaré) for Lens who challenged PSG for 1st place all season, he finished the season with the highest number of assists in Ligue1. The hope with them, and with a few other lads, some of whom we want to see more of (like Szymanski whose passes mid to long ranges passes & crossballs a rare thing of beauty) is that we can now have more of a possession/pressure forward game on top of being a top team in fast incisive counter-attacks, we wanna see our team also have a lot more control under high-pressure, and finally get rid of that tendancy to fold back on its own too much when the opponent can push in consecutive waves.

(Je leur demande en anglais ce qu'ils peuvent nous dire un peu de leur équipe avant d'attaquer les pintes ahah, je reviendrai traduire s'ils peuvent un peu nous répondre).

Last close season saw a lot of upheaval. Our manager Thomas Frank left, taking many of his staff. Our star strikers, Mbuemo and Wissa left (Wissa the snake left after going on strike pre-season), our Captain Norgaard left to join Arsenal and our goalkeeper Flekken left. I think they are the main ones. Anyhow, lots of fans were concerned especially when we appointed Keith Andrews as head coach, someone who had never had that position before. However, for those doubters, last season taught a lot of fans to trust the owner and his side-kick and to trust the process. It's very rare they get things wrong. As it turned out, we had a very good season, only to falter at the end and miss out on a European place which would be a first for us.

Thiago who we had bought the season before but then spent most of that 1st season injured was a star and was the 2nd highest scorer in the PL behind Haaland. He went on to make his debut for Brazil.

Kelleher was signed from Liverpool. By all accounts he was regarded as the best back-up goalkeeper in the PL when he was with Liverpool and better than most first team goalkeepers and he was a steal for us.

Kayode at Right Back joined late the season before but became a star and fans favourite. He makes the odd mistake but once he sorts them out, will be a superstar. He goes on mazy dribbles from right back all across the pitch and has a throw which Rennes will no doubt witness on Saturday.

Henderson (ex Liverpool) came in to add a steadying influence which was crucial early in the season. Unfortunately injuries meant he didn't play as much but he has now moved on to Chelsea.

Ouattara came in up front on the right to balance Schade on the left. Both are still developing but when they get there, they will be frightening. Both have pace

Damsgaard and Jensen took in our turn threading precise balls through to the front three.

I could go on and on.

As for this season, we have signed a young centre back from RB Salzburg who will add strength to the defence but most significantly, we 'stole' Sangare from Lens who everyone has been raving about. Could be one of our best ever signings according to the experts so I think we're all licking our lips in anticipation.

Apart from that it's been quietish. I think the squad is in the best shape it's ever been. A few players are back from long term injuries. Milambo who we also signed last year and have high hopes for but the man who we all want to see succeed is Josh Dasilva. He joined us several years ago and oozed class in the Championship. Early days in the Premier League and it looked like he was going to be a star only to have a series of injuries. The last one kept him off the pitch for 822 days and when he made his comeback this time, it was a very emotional Stadium.

Hopes for this season. I would hope we're again challenging for a place in Europe and would like to see us do well in one of the domestic cups. It's always tough with the teams we're up against who have budgets far higher than ours but they don't have our owner and his belief.

Thiago, que nous avions recruté la saison précédente mais qui avait passé la majeure partie de sa première année blessé, a explosé cette saison. Il a terminé deuxième meilleur buteur de Premier League derrière Haaland et a même fait ses débuts avec la sélection brésilienne.

Nous avons recruté Kelleher en provenance de Liverpool. De l'avis général, il était considéré comme le meilleur gardien remplaçant de Premier League, voire meilleur que de nombreux gardiens titulaires. Pour le prix payé, c'était une excellente affaire.

Kayode, au poste d'arrière droit, était arrivé en fin de saison précédente mais est rapidement devenu une véritable révélation et un chouchou des supporters. Il commet encore quelques erreurs, mais lorsqu'il les aura corrigées, il pourra devenir une véritable star. Il adore remonter le terrain balle au pied depuis son côté droit en éliminant les adversaires, et il possède une touche longue impressionnante que Rennes découvrira sans doute samedi.

Jordan Henderson (ancien de Liverpool) est arrivé pour apporter son expérience et sa sérénité, ce qui a été essentiel en début de saison. Malheureusement, les blessures l'ont empêché de jouer autant que prévu et il a désormais rejoint Chelsea.

Ouattara est arrivé pour occuper le côté droit de l'attaque et équilibrer Schade, qui évolue à gauche. Tous deux sont encore en progression, mais lorsqu'ils atteindront leur plein potentiel, ils feront très peur. Ils possèdent tous les deux une vitesse exceptionnelle.

Damsgaard et Jensen se sont relayés pour distiller des passes précises entre les lignes à destination de notre trio offensif.
Je pourrais continuer encore longtemps...

Concernant cette saison
Nous avons recruté un jeune défenseur central en provenance du RB Salzbourg, qui devrait renforcer notre défense. Mais surtout, nous avons « volé » Sangaré à Lens, un joueur sur lequel tout le monde est dithyrambique. D'après les spécialistes, il pourrait devenir l'une des meilleures recrues de l'histoire du club. Autant dire que les supporters sont extrêmement impatients de le voir jouer.
À part cela, le mercato a été relativement calme. Je pense que notre effectif est aujourd'hui le plus solide que nous ayons jamais eu.
Quelques joueurs reviennent également de longues blessures, notamment Milambo, recruté l'an dernier et pour lequel nous avons beaucoup d'espoirs.

Mais celui que tout le monde rêve de voir réussir, c'est Josh Dasilva. Il est arrivé chez nous il y a plusieurs années et respirait la classe lorsqu'il évoluait en Championship. À ses débuts en Premier League, tout laissait penser qu'il deviendrait une star, avant qu'une succession de blessures ne vienne briser son élan. La dernière l'a éloigné des terrains pendant 822 jours. Lorsqu'il a enfin fait son retour, l'émotion était immense dans tout le stade.
Les attentes pour cette saison
J'espère que nous lutterons une nouvelle fois pour une qualification européenne et que nous irons loin dans l'une des coupes nationales.
Ce sera évidemment très difficile face à des clubs disposant de budgets bien supérieurs au nôtre. Mais eux n'ont pas notre propriétaire... ni sa vision et sa confiance dans le projet.
