I think you'd be happy to see how many Rennes - Celtic scarves there is at game night. I don't know if it's a feeling shared by Celtic fans but here in Rennes we felt a connection between our two clubs. The frank comradeship experienced during your trip to Rennes sure is no stranger to that.

I wouldn't say it is big with the general Celtic support compared to someone like myself who watches Rennes games. I think it's more to do with the attitude towards French football in Scotland, but definitely if asked which French teams they like Rennes would definitely be in there and would win most times in, who do you prefer Rennes or Nantes? discussions. Rennes and the fans were talked highly off after the two ties in the Europa League and one of my friends has an RCK scarf, which he doesn't want to sell to me
There was something that just stuck with me when it came to Rennes, it must have been the great welcome I received here.

Hello, can you give me your opinion on Stefan Johansen ?

Hello, can you give me your opinion on Stefan Johansen ?
He has only played around five games right now so it will be hard to give an overall opinion on him.
He is a very calm and composed player, plays at centre midfield but is naturally an attacking midfield player. He has a good range of passing which includes long passes on the ground across the field. He has good vision and dribbling skills too. To me he seems a bit lightweight right now and needs to put more weight on but that doesn't stop him chasing players down and trying to barge opponents off the ball with a shoulder tackle. He was also dubbed the 'Norwegian Modric'.
Although he hasn't done it for us, we are told he can take a freekick too but as Celtic have 5 freekick takers in our starting 11, Stefan hasn't had a chance yet.
Celtic are in a state of change in formation shape right now from going a straight 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2 to now trying to play a diamond in midfield:
Forster
Lustig Ambrose Van Dijk Izaguirre
Biton (DM)
Brown (CM) Johansen (CM)
Commons (AM)
Stokes Griffiths
We are now starting to see why we bought our defensive midfielder Nir Biton who didn't get off to the best of starts for us but since this new change Biton has been excellent. What defensive midfielder does a 360 degree spin whilst being the last man and under pressure? He is just so composed. He rarely missplaces a pass too. I believe he'd suit Rennes more than Johansen as Rennes have that sort of player in Toivonen, whilst Biton is more like Sergio Busquets of Barcelona, the way he plays.

True, but he is the striker for a team sitting second bottom of the league!

Also, he was one of our targets last winter. I believe he will fit well with the british football style.
Moreover, he is a team player, he won't hesitate to fight in order to defend his colors.
While he won't never play like Ronaldo or Zidane, I believe he could be very helfull for Celtic. (I would not cry if he comes to Rennes instead of Pitroipa for example  )

We have been considered many things: A city in decay, a city in distress and without hope.
However we have never given up and we never say die. We are born fighters, we rise from the ashes. We are a community that believes in our future despite whatever anyone throws against us.

The thing with Celtic right now is we have 6 or 7 strikers right now and bar one the rest don't know how to score goals. We haven't replaced a great goal scorer in Gary Hooper who could step up to CL football. I don't think any of our current strikers or Bakambu can do this......I think Pitroipa could, he just needs new surroundings.

You are right with Pitroipa about his surrounds but even when he was at the top we could certified he doesn't have the understanding of the game and could break numerous action because of that.
That's is really frustrating even if sometimes he is able to do great tricks and unlocked some games. In addition, Bakambu has a wider range of skills than Pitroipa (who is only a winger). He could play in all positions forward.
Pitroipa could never replaced Gary Hooper as a striker, he has never scored more than 10 goals in a season (even last one which was his best)
I think Bakambu could be, or at least, a good compromise.
Edit: Hooper with a H

"gary Cooper" uh !
Well, Pitroipa is very fast but also very messy, he is truely unpredictable for his opponents but also for his teammates and even for himself... Able to fly during the African Nations Cup but to crash big time in the french league. This player is a mystery although a lovable mystery !
If you look at his stats, they are really pityful this year...

Pitroipa can replace Samaras as our unpredictable winger when he leaves at the end of the season.

This year hopefully
This season is so difficult, but maybe they can leave the pressure to win the French Cup!
I guess you're used to win the scottish league, and it has not the same taste without your best enemies Rangers...

To the neutral it may seem so but to us Celtic fans we like it very much like any other title we have won, we are happy our enemies died. Furthermore it looks like the tribute act playing in the lower divisions are going the way of the team they claim still to be.

A small update on New rangers. They have announced today that between May 2012 and December 2013, the club has lost £67 million which works out at around 81 million with only under £3.5 million (4.2 million) left, or so they say, no one believes them. There are talks of the new rangers going into administration or even death like the old club. Complete civil war there right now. It's great!
