#1 Re: The "Red and Black" Corner » [Europa League, qualification play-offs] SRFC - Crvena Zvezna Beograd » 06-08-2011 00:34:18

Yes, Borja and Lazovic are wingers, although Borja isn't very fast, but our left winger Vinicius Pacheco got severely injured so Borja has to play there.

Dimitrijevic was one of the best midfielders in Serbian championship, maybe the best. He has good technique and he's intelligent, but slow - maybe that's the reason why he didn't make it in France where most players have amazing physicall ability.

But, what Prosinecki brought is style of play where players can emphasize their good sides and hide bad ones, so we expect Dimitrijevic to be very good for us.

Hi everybody!

Yet another Red Star fan has come to your forum big_smile

If you ask us what to expect from Red Star, well, even we can't tell you for sure!

Don't look at last few years of inglorious defeats against APOEL (btw, they proved they are respectable side) and Slovan, or the last time when we lost all matches in group stage, year 2008.
2008-2010 (and especially 2009. mad) were the worst years in existence of our club (yes, even in war nineties we were way stronger, with players like Ognjenovic and Stankovic even Barcelona with Stoichkov, Guardiola and Ronaldo feared on Marakana, just like the old days).

We changed many coaches between eras of Bajevic (2007) and Prosinecki now, and most of them were disgrace for football and even players didn't respect them very much. They sometimes played without a striker (!) or with three centre backs (?!), of course, losing the games in very ...ugly... way... And the players... you wouldn't believe, in old Red Star days no way many of those guys could play even in 3rd degree Yugoslav league. I mean it. Some of them had technical capability of wooden logs (I hope you will never see likes of it in your team, it's trauma watching it). We also didn't have fitness coach for some time so we were less phyically capable than some amateur teams, one year ago:o
We lost our winning spirit and even weak Partizan (with help of president of Football Association (former Partizan president), referees, some smaller clubs - and leading Serbian politicians are Partizan fans roll) were in front of us.

Thank you, God, for sending us our beloved Prosinecki, who brought us back just what the Red Star Belgrade was, dominance, bravery and beauty of football!
The change we have witnessed since his arrival is incredible.
Let me illustrate it this way. Before the 2nd match with Ventspils, journalist asks our former coach (2009-2010), now national team coah, and our former glorious player, Vladimir Petrovic Pizon, what he expects from the match. Pizon responses "They should play carefully" (yes, he is the guy who played with three centre backs).
And what did Robi think about that? We blasted them with 7 goals, could have been even more!

We won't get too carried away with demolishing such a weak opponent, but, hey, scoring 7 time to any team, not an easy job, agree? Not to mention we didn't have our two best players - brazilian artist Evandro (about 5 times better than his countryman Kadu) and tough Lee Addy, Ghana national team defender.
With them, our team would become much stronger, but we don't know how much, exactly. Addy haven't played for a long time and Evandro had lots of injury problems.

About your team, we believe like your chances are 60-40 or even more. You have bunch of africa-origin athletic players who can play a lot of pressing and physical football, and we can't cope with that yet. Our problem is also that we change a lot of players every 6 months, so they don't know each other very well. We won't be mad at our guys if they don't make it, but be sure it won't be easy job for you cause you will face a group of talented and able players, decisive to win, and incredibly talented coach.
Our hope is the fact that your team somehow isn't too good at the very start of the season.

18. and 25. august, mighty Rennes will face Red Star who rises again to take its place in Europe.

And about that Columbian Borja, who are you worried about...
We considered him strong and good tehnician, but poor scorer, cause he missed unbelievable (even Flamengo let him because of that) but last game his aim was fantastic and we hope he keeps it:lol:
