Jury is still very much out on him as far as I am concerned. I may have seen him playing on the Europa League semi-finals a few years ago but certainly don't remember his game in particular, so  I really have nothing to base a judgement on...

I've got a good feeling though, and he certainly has an interesting profile to help making Rennes' football something slightly more spectacular next season

Stade Rennais Ponder Summer Move For Belgium Starlet Christian Benteke – Report

Christian Benteke is being tracked by Ligue 1 side Rennes, but the Bretons will have to wait until the summer before making a move.

Find the best odds and bet on Ligue 1. After a positive start to the campaign, Stade Rennais are a club looking to strengthen their options in the near future, but they may be prepared to wait until the summer to further bolster their offensive unit with a move for Christian Benteke.

Presently signed with Mechelen on a season-long loan from Standard Liege, the 20-year-old striker may not be a prolific scorer, but he is known as a handful. A physically imposing youngster, standing at 6ft 3in, he is not afraid to put his weight around, an attribute that has already earned him three red cards in his career.

Prior to the opening of the transfer window, Rennes indicated that they wanted to sign an experienced attacker and one for the future. Abdoulrazak Boukari has already been plundered from Racing Club de Lens, and it seems Benteke could be their second addition, though they will have to wait until the three-time capped international player's loan expires in the summer before taking concrete steps to signing the Congo-born player.

But it's not only the forefront of the attack the Bretons are looking to strengthen. Creative Nancy midfielder Julien Feret and polyvalent left-sided Lens player Henri Bedimo are both being tracked with a view to potential summer movement
